We apologise for the loss of service....

....normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, in the meantime there will be a short intermission.......

It appears that once again I have failed to keep up a picture a day blog for a year, I mean how hard can it be? clearly I have no discipline.Didnt even make it to 6 months this time *tsk*
I have decided to give myself one more chance, but this time start on my birthday, which is tomorrow.
Not sure what difference this will make, probably none but lets see. Bear with me.
So as to start with a clean slate I have begun another blog page.
with an appropriate title. fingers crossed I make it this time.....:-)

So follow me....

Day 67 - next race please..

And so it goes on. A week after the Imber Ultra 33 mile I have my first real attempt at 'back to back' runs (eg, two long runs one after the other). Here's the number for the first, which I collected today, the Larmer 10 mile, which i will be the sweeper at.

Tuesday 7 March 2017

Day 66 - a souvenir

Just got round to clearing my pack out from the weekend and found this spent bullet case I had picked up as a souvenir from Salisbury Plain (despite being told not to pick up anything shiny, I figured this was safe as it had already been fired!)

Monday 6 March 2017

Day 65 - Recovery

So, following on from a large number of miles run, comes the demand from my body to ingest a rather large number of calories. These were a necessity of course :-)

Sunday 5 March 2017

Day 64 - what a mug!

...but not just any old mug. This was awarded instead of a finishers medal at the Imber Ultra 33 mile trail race around salisbury plain. You'd think wouldnt you that a plain would be flat but no.
33 miles of mud, hills, more mud, rain, hail and gale force winds, means this mug is now a treasured possession!

Saturday 4 March 2017

Day 63 - Moors Valley parkrun

Hazel's first time at Moors Valley parkrun and she took 5 mins off her xmas day time at Poole, which she says she doesnt like. Enjoyed running it with her :-)

Friday 3 March 2017

Day 62 - On Track

My tracker has arrived from Race Drone to test out on Sundays Imber Ultra. It's nice and compact. It looks very simple, an on/off button and an SOS button in case of emergency. I don't actually know if anything will happen if i press the SOS button but im not going to test it out! This should send my whereabouts to a web page where friends can see how well or badly Im doing on the day :-) I plan on hiring one for the 100k in May so I wanted to see how well they worked.

Thursday 2 March 2017

Day 61 - World Book Day

As its World Book Day today, no im not going to dress up as a character, but I am going to photograph my collection from my favourite authors, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

Wednesday 1 March 2017

Day 60 - St David's Day

For St David's day, what else but a daffodil from my garden. This is a miniature version and for some reason the focus wouldnt go right!

Tuesday 28 February 2017

Day 59 - Jack Frost

Looks like a strange planet doesnt it? in fact its the fern like fronds of Jack Frost over my car windscreen this morning.

Monday 27 February 2017

Day 58 - Turned out nice again?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, The British Weather. Literally 5 minutes before this we were sheltering under a tree from the stinging hailstones. And then this....

Sunday 26 February 2017

Day 57 - give peas a chance...

mid run nutrition. Its as important for dogs as it is for people. Max & Daisy get a small bag of meat scraps for anything over a couple of hours. And peas, for some reason Daisy likes peas...

Saturday 25 February 2017

Day 56 - dog noses

Trying to get a picture of the dogs while out running today, but Daisy was too nosy and this is what i got so it will have to do. Who doesnt love a dog nose?

Friday 24 February 2017

Day 55 - A-Tissue

Ugh! I never buy tissues usually, preferring to cope with a bit of loo roll if ever my nose needs blowing, but a sore nose after all this horrible snot meant that I needed to buy these today :-(

Thursday 23 February 2017

Day 54 - Ne'er cast a clout..

....Till May be out, says the old rhyme, but how many know it refers not to the month of May but to the May Blossom, otherwise known as Hawthorn.
Today down at the river I saw some blossoms just coming through, so hopefully its a sign of warmer weather :-)

Wednesday 22 February 2017

Day 53 - Threshold or not Threshold that is the question

Trying to attempt a threshold run tonight but the lurgy had other ideas and I couldnt stay at that effort level for long. The first 9 min interval was close at HR 159 but I couldnt keep it up in the second one so just ended up doing the best i could. Seems im ok for a slow run but not anything with any effort in

Tuesday 21 February 2017

Day 52 - the days are getting longer

Hurrah! another sign spring is here, we are actually starting an evening run in the daylight (just).

Monday 20 February 2017

Day 51 - blurry

I had to go to a friends house on the way home today so my route from there to home took me across the twin sails bridge, which Im sure I havent been across in the dark before. It looks quite impressive all lit up. This was my attempt at the quickest photo in the world before anyone came up behind me! Not very good is it...

Sunday 19 February 2017

Day 50 - Social out and back

View from todays 3 hour run along the SWCP from Weymouth towards Lulworth, which includes Jenny, and Beverley who we met for the first time today. There were about 15 of us in all, meeting at Bowleaze cove and because we were all different speeds, it was decided that we would run for 90 mins then turn around and come back, hopefully all getting back at roughly the same time. It worked quite well as we all finished within about 10 mins of each other, no one had to hang about in the cold waiting, and we could all go for a coffee and cake together afterwards!

Saturday 18 February 2017

Day 49 - Spring has Sprung

Beautiful pic of some snowdrops today on a walk around the black hill in Bere Regis. Spring is definitely on its way :-)

Friday 17 February 2017

Day 48 - blast from the past

Dug out my old nutrition belt to show someone today as they were complaining the cheap karrimore ones were not comfortable. I sewed two of them together once upon a time to make one wide comfortable one that did me for several marathons. Still comfortable now but doesnt hold much liquid in the two tiny bottles.

Thursday 16 February 2017

Day 47 - opening night

We were lucky enough to have been invited to the opening night of the new Xmiles shop in Wimborne, run by ultra runner Anthony Clark (I stole his photo!). Anthony is hoping to be picked to represent GB in the Anglo Celtic Plate 100K race. Im just hoping that my lurgy doesnt affect the elite runners.

Wednesday 15 February 2017

Day 46 - nothing to see here

Well, I was off work ill today. Didnt even take a photo.
But this one pretty much sums up how I was feeling :-(

Nothing to see here, move along, move along.....

Tuesday 14 February 2017

Day 45 - Be my Valentine

When your husband brings you wine, chocolate......and more lemsip because you're stuffed up and sneezing again :-(

Monday 13 February 2017

Day 44 - Waving down the river

Despite the sunshine today the river actually had waves on it due to the very strong wind that was blowing. Not seen that before, I dont think it can have been the effect of the tide as far up as Wimborne? (long way from the sea)

Sunday 12 February 2017

Day 43 - no pictures please

No Pictures please! Ian avoiding the camera lens on our social sunday run. I'll get him another time :-)

Saturday 11 February 2017

Day 42 - blizzard conditions...

We had been warned to expect snow overnight, but nothing prepared us for a snowfall of these proportions ;-)

Friday 10 February 2017

Day 41 - Land Rover

Not often you get sent a landrover to put on a wedding cake but then my cousin and her fiance are nothing if not original :-)

Thursday 9 February 2017

Day 40 - money bags

More like money pots really. Arthritis Research have sent me some collecting pots in case I want to stick em on my desk at work.

Wednesday 8 February 2017

Day 39 - Run for Home

My pack for running home on Wednesdays at present until the evenings get a lot lighter. Really pleased today as I managed to do it in just under an hour which is a 3 min improvement!

Tuesday 7 February 2017

Day 38 - Light at the end of the tunnel

Yay! Today it is noticably lighter as I leave work, light at the end of the tunnel indeed!

Monday 6 February 2017

Day 37 - These Bootees were made for walking..

Ethan has his first baby walker - he's very excited about it, but can only shuffle back and forth at the moment. I'm sure that will change when he gets the hang of it!

Sunday 5 February 2017

Day 36 - A new path

I love it when a new path spotted on google maps that i havent been on before turns out to be marked, still there and passable too. Max loves a new route and was very happy with this bit :-)

Saturday 4 February 2017

Day 35 - back to my roots...

Can't believe I've not taken notice of this fallen tree at Upton Country Park before. Where the dirt is being washed from the roots its looking quite sculptural.

Friday 3 February 2017

Day 34 - Yet More Rain

Poor Hazel, seems like all her runs are in the rotton weather at the mo. You cant really see it from the photo but yes its raining again....

Wednesday 1 February 2017

Day 32 - Dinner Dinner Batman

So lovely to come home and find your other half has made dinner already :-) thanks Kevin, yummy shepherds pie, looks awesome xxx

Tuesday 31 January 2017

Day 31 - Its raining again

40 mins run tonight, in the rain again, not very far or fast but then we were trying not to slip over in the mud in the dark....

Monday 30 January 2017

Day 30 - Hardcore running

Once again Hazel has surpassed her previous efforts. Despite the rain she did a PR speed on a certain Segment this evening, and so I award her the title of official hardcore runner, especially for getting out in the rain!

Sunday 29 January 2017

Day 29 - A little Rusty

After suffering with the lurgy for the last couple of days, I suppose a 10 mile run was not what the doctor ordered, and indeed I certainly felt very rusty trying to keep up with Neil & Ian and the two dogs. Seems I wasnt the only thing feeling rusty, heres an old tractor we spotted on our route around Black Hill.(thanks to Neil for the picture)

Saturday 28 January 2017

Day 28 - I've looked at clouds from both sides now..

Quite impressive clouds over the heath this afternoon, and some sunshine, worth a snap i thought? Bit blurry but you cant win em all!

Friday 27 January 2017

Day 27 - vested interest

My official running vest for Arthritis Research UK has arrived - shame its too big! I dont have the heart to send it back especially after they originally sent a cotton tshirt :-) Maybe I can alter it...

Thursday 26 January 2017

Day 26 - Coming down with something

Not much happened today except I think Im coming down with some sort of Lurgy. Sore throat and sinuses. On the Lemsip...

Wednesday 25 January 2017

Day 25 - A visit

First time I've visited daughter Steph's work (at a vets), had to drop something off, this is her "oh for goodness sake Mother do you have to take my photo?" face....Sorry Steph :-)

Tuesday 24 January 2017

Monday 23 January 2017

Day 23 - Pea Souper

Bit of a pea souper all day today, here's a misty reflection from the river at lunchtime, the trees were quite ghostly...

Sunday 22 January 2017

Day 22 - Phew, what a view!

We're so lucky to have the Purbeck hills and the SWCP on our doorstep, you can't fail to get some amazing pictures!
Here's Jenny & Neil and the dogs heading for an Arish Mell descent and a calf killing climb up Flowers Barrow ( the hill dead ahead) on our relatively short (14km) but hilly run today.

Saturday 21 January 2017

Day 21 - Monkey feet on ice

No, not a new london show, but describing todays run. Pretty cold and lots of frozen ground and icy puddles. On the plus side my toe is mended so back in the monkey feet again :-)

Friday 20 January 2017

Day 20 - a smidgeon of daylight

Yeeesss! what we've been waiting for - as I leave work for the day there is still a bit of light in the sky, light evenings are on their way :-)

Thursday 19 January 2017

Day 19 - technically challenged

The nice chaps at Alpkit have sent me a new battery case for my headtorch which arrived today. Just got to work out how to fit it now........
